Pop Whalen Ice Arena & Abenaki Ski Area
390 Pine Hill Road, Wolfeboro NH 03894
Pop Whalen Ice Arena
The Pop Whalen Ice Arena is operated as an Enterprise Fund by the Town of Wolfeboro and is host to many hockey leagues in the Lakes and Seacoast Regions including Back Bay Youth Hockey, She Wolves Women’s Hockey, Kingswood High School, Brewster Academy, The Co-Ed League, Men’s League, Senior Men’s League, and more. The rink is also home to Wolfeboro Parks and Recreation Skating Lessons, as well as extensive lap skating, stick practice and public skating hours.
Abenaki Ski Area
We are open to the public and offer 7 trails from green to black diamond, glade skiing, night skiing, a terrain park, one of the fastest rope tows on the East Coast, friendly staff and a small lodge with wood stove and space to relax. We have a full size groomer and a small but mighty snowmaking operation—not to mention some of the best conditions you will find in the Northeast. Due to the relatively small crowds (compared to the big boys like Loon, Gunstock and Bretton Woods), there are no lift lines, great conditions with virtually no ice and a friendly, small town vibe.
